Life’s too short …

… to do anything you don’t want to do. Granted, some things are an absolute must – like prepare food, do laundry and shower (the people you are in contact with will appreciate it). And for most of us, work.

I’m very fortunate. I don’t have a job. Don’t want one either  And I’m at that point in my life I don’t have to do anything I don’t want to – and you may have noticed I haven’t blogged in a few days
.
A few days ago, a friend’s health issue reminded me that life is too short to fill it up with things that don’t matter, and that you don’t enjoy. So, I scrapped the project I was working on. I wasn’t having fun, and if I’m not enjoying it, why do it?

Which brings me to a question – have you ever quit in the middle of a book? Why or why not?

  1. I was looking towards Mainstream publishers and having trouble finding an agent (you should see that stack of R’s!) before I finally decided Harlequin was the market I should target.

I was working on a MS that I was 3/4 done with, but I now see it doesn’t fit into the HQ mold. They are so specific in their various lines… :whip: LOL

I really think that’s what sunk my Blaze contest entry, because the H had a child from a previous relationship, and Blaze doesn’t “do” kids.

So I am almost finished with my current WIP for Intrigue, and once it’s out of my hands I may go back to the other story and see if it’s salvageable. Or I may move on to the sidekick cop in my Intrigue WIP, and give him his own Intrigue.

Gee, that was almost a book in itself… oh well, have a great weekend Margery!

Gotta sign off with dancing banana…I just love dancing banana!:bananadance:

  2. I’m about ready to quit with my murder mystery because it’s driving me insane. Not that I really will, mind you, but that’s how I feel at the moment. And like Jamie, I have to use the dancing banana because it’s just so fun! :bananadance:

  3. Nope. I’ve never quit in the middle of a book. I’ve always finished. It has taken me awhile to cross that line. But I’ve yet to start and stop to never finish.

  4. To be honest, sometimes I quit in the beginning of the book (okay, just put aside for later times), but mostly I try to finish the book. Really try!

  5. I’ve quit at various stages of lots of books. I’ve got partials, one chapter, seven chapters, ten chapters. I keep saying I’ll go back and finish them but who knows. And I too just love the dancing banana. :bananadance:

  6. Hmmm, strangely not. Have been tempted to, but the characters drag me back into their story :whip:.

But you’re right, life’s too short. I have to keep reminding myself of that right now – the GH is important, but it’s not THAT important. I have to chill out a little. 😎
