RWA in the movies???

I can’t sleep these days. No matter what time I go to bed, I wake up in the middle of the night. Last night was no exception :hissyfit: So I turned on the TV, clicking the remote as I searched for a boring infomercial to lull me back to sleep.

Imagine my surprise when I clicked to an old movie called The Boyfriend School and realized the scene I’d come upon was taking place at an RWA conference, complete with bodice-ripper covers and half-naked men walking across the screen.

Could RWA have sanctioned this? If not, does the mention of Romance Writers of America constitute trademark infringement?

Either way, RWA should find/buy the original copy of this movie and burn it!!! After everything romance authors and RWA has done to gain a little respect in the publishing industry, five minutes with this movie will set the cause back fifty years.

  1. I saw that movie a long time ago. I thought it was set at an RT conference. I never noticed the RWA wording! I’ll have to see if it’s on TV here and look for that.
